--No because you should not have to let others control you. You are an independent and you should have your own privacy.

--they can control them by having set times for them and having big brother and the telescreens and they can watch everything the people do.

And the 'those who controls the past controls the future' when you are aware of your past, having 'control' over it, not letting it influence you, you would know well enough not to let the same bad things be repeated in the future.
