1. Are you willing to give up your privacy if constant government surveillance means living in a safer country? Does America seem to be willing to give up their privacy? Why?
Im not willing to give up my privacy just to be watched constantly. I dont believe other citizens of america would be willing to give up their privacy either because some people dont see a problem with the way the world is.
2. What are some of the ways that the government controls the people of Oceania? Is this level of government involvement okay if it means it serves a greater purpose?
They control the people by taking away their vocabulary and making them obey their "big brother" the government controls everything they do and theyre being watched 24/7. I dont believe this much government involvement is okay because it really doesnt serve as a good purpose besides the fact that their ruler craves power.
4. Is technology today more or less advanced than it is in the book? Is this a good or a bad thing?
Technology is less advanced in the real world as far as control but more advanced because oceania doesnt allow technology.
5. How does technology allow people to violate other people’s freedoms? Is the loss of privacy partially self-imposed?
people with technology dont have alot of privacy because once its on the internet anyone can get to it and find out a lot about you. It is self-imposed because people make their own choices of what they want to put out there for everyone to see.
9. When people are stripped of their ability to express a thought, do they lose the ability to formulate one?
I think that only the people who dont want to have that ability cant formulate a thought but people who are curious and want to know can formulate a thought even if they arent allowed to.
